The port estuary was closed by a municipal decision dated 04 January 2018 to fulfill its maximum capacity, the municipality of Sfax is working to prepare this estuary within an environmental project that is concerned with solar energy production and converting it to electrical energy to supply 11 municipal headquarters with it in cooperation with the National Electricity and Gas Company over an area 2 ha at the estuary by installing specialized power panels.
